VR Shooting Range Simulator [PROTOTYPE]

Virtual shooting range that allows for practicing firearm training without the requirement of a firearm or range. This allows for more frequent practice, and practicing drills that are not possible with locally available equipment or facilities.

This project is a collaboration of S3 Digital and USAGI.

META 3S with Controllers $350 New, ~$200 Used

Alternatively, META 2 used can be obtained for ~$100 and should also work if you just want to try out VR gaming or get a head start in training yourself to fight against VR motion sickness. 

If you know you will be into VR gaming, it is recommended to hold off or buy a META 2 as the Steam Frame will be releasing sometime this year and is estimated to be ~$600-1,000 but will possibly overtake META's dominance in VR due to the Steam Frame's projected performance and compatibility improvements over META's dysfunctional DEI programmed OS and creepy spyware. In case you are not aware, META's headsets cannot be turned off. Even if you turn it off, they will remotely turn themselves back on to capture audio and video data, as well as to "update". While officially META claims in their TOS they do not see any of this data, and it is true that as a developer you cannot gain access to the passthrough sensors, in reality the congressional testimonies of whistleblowers should make you understand otherwise that META can collect footage and audio. You should store these in a container and ideally in a location isolated from sound. Get an external battery pack because the headset will drain itself as a result of this data collection. Keep in mind, most smartphones do the same thing, but they are more subtle about how they spy on you. 

Currently this is a PCVR game, meaning it requires a computer linked to  a VR headset by SteamVR or Meta Horizon Link. Exact VR headset compatibility is currently unknown.  Standalone APK and non-VR support are planned. Recommended PC specs are currently unknown as there is not enough content to properly estimate the load on a graphics card. In general, most video games including some current AAA releases are playable with as little as 8GB VRAM. 

Linux and Mac support is coming in the next update. Please contact us via email if you wish to be a play tester for these platforms. Currently tested on Linux Mint. 

While controller support is likely to be available, the intended use of this program will eventually require a physical prop gun attachment for the controller which will be available for purchase or 3D printed by the end user. Eventually other props will be incorporated for optional free roam scenarios. Free roam means moving around IRL, while remaining in VR or AR vision. An example of a useable free roam space would be a garage with the car backed out, backyard, or recreational park (with a spotter and a non-realistic controller attachment). 

A DIY VR slidemill is also in development as this game is a building block for the gameplay mechanics in a different game that is still in writing phase. The slidemill will not be necessary if you do not use the realistic gun attachment or you use a jog-in-place software with trackers such as Natural Locomotion. Currently the estimated cost of the slidemill is $200 and requires a FDM 3D printer (Ender 3 with ABS or PLA filament is recommended which is ~$150). We are looking at prefabricated options since most people don't have a 3D printer although I strongly recommend buying one as they are very useful for virtually anything you might be doing, and governments are slowly trying to restrict them from the public. If necessary we will publish a DIY 3D printer build but as of now, the Ender 3 is a steal and cannot be surpassed in terms of performance for the price. When the printer files are ready, we will probably release a setup guide complete with an enclosure build, or link to one.

BE ADVISED: This is an early work in progress and currently there is virtually no playable content as this project is still in the planning stage and is likely to be bare of playable content for a long time. Development may be abandoned at any time.  Consider any purchase to be a donation to our development efforts as a whole, not necessarily for a working game as described. Any payment here is considered a contribution to any of the tiers outlined on XMRBazaar. Use the current version as a compatibility and hardware test. If you experience any difficulties, please let us know. 

Some future content that is planned may have to be USG or AMCIT restricted for legal and security reasons. We are still waiting for an official letter on this determination. They will probably want to see the actual product when ready before finalizing their decision, so we likely won't know for certain what is green lit until we actually get to that point in development. Sometimes they give a letter of approval based on the conceptual legal merits though, so fingers crossed.

As this game is independently developed as a standalone exe file, it is not trusted by any anti-virus software and as a result this game is likely to be falsely flagged as malware.  It will probably immediately flag and remove it, requiring you to restore the file in your antivirus software settings. I super duper UwU prwomise it's not a cryptocoin miner or ransomware that will pwn you.

Still, be wary of downloading this file especially if from a source we do not control. A bad actor can pass off any exe file as this easily and claim it is safe from us.
